From 'DWTS' To Disney: What Dance Fans Should Be Watching The Next Few Weeks

Are you ready for a dance bonanza? The next few weeks are filled with everything you could ever ask for as a dance fan. Take a look at some of the highlights I’ve noted below and make sure to tune in to catch all of your favorite dance stars.

Nov. 21 & 22: Dancing With the Stars finale—Who will win that Mirror Ball Trophy? This season, it’s truly going to rest on those freestyle dances between Laurie Hernandez and James Hinchcliffe. James’ partner, Sharna Burgess, has the edge as the stronger choreographer, but Laurie has a powerful fan base that might be hard to overcome.

Nov. 24: The Wonderful World Of Disney: Magical Holiday Celebration—This Thanksgiving Day special for ABC was shot last weekend in Orlando, Florida with Julianne and Derek Hough hosting. NappyTabs choreographed the event and So You Think You Can Dance fans will recognize past contestants like Rudy Abreu and Paul Karmiryan. If you miss Wanya Morris from DWTS Season 22, Boyz II Men will be performing in front to Cinderella’s Castle.

Nov. 25: Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life—You know I’ve been waiting for this day to come for months, but DWTS fans should take a closer look at a tango scene in one of the four episodes. It features Artem Chigvintsev and Brittany Cherry. Derek fans will also recognize Ekaterina Fedosova from his Season 23 DWTS tango piece.

Dec. 9: La La Land: As I’ve stated before, this is a MUST-SEE movie for 2016. It is visually the most spectacular film I’ve seen all year. SYTYCD and DWTS choreographer Mandy Moore has done the best work of her career in this film. A few DWTS faces also worked behind the scenes and on-camera in this film, so be sure to put this on your holiday viewing list.

Dec. 10: A Nutcracker Christmas—It isn’t the holiday season without a Nutcracker viewing or two. The Hallmark Channel is bringing an original movie to their holiday slate starring Sophia Lucia and Sascha Radetsky. If you’ve ever seen Sophia dance, you know you are in for 18,000 spectacular pirouettes.

What event are you most excited to watch?
