The 70th Annual Emmy Award nominations were announced today and wow, was it a roller coaster ride. There were a lot of wonderful surprises and some disappointing snubs, especially for World of Dance which didn't receive a single nomination in any category.
Here's the breakdown:
Dancing With the Stars: 6 nominations
So You Think You Can Dance: 5 nominations
World of Dance: 0 nominations
While we will celebrate all of the nominees, it's hard not to think about the talented artists who were left off the list. This does signal that the dance industry is thriving and hopefully, more shows will be represented on this list in the future.
So if you missed Keone & Mari or Kinjaz on World of Dance, Sean Cheesman's incredible "Still I Rise" piece on SYTYCD or any of the Step Up: High Water series, be sure to add them to your must-watch list. I wasn't surprised DWTS didn't receive a nod, it is a crowded field in the Choreography category. The list of nominees gives you an idea of what the Choreography branch is looking for in a winner.
Here are your 2018 Emmy nominees in the Choreography category. Congrats!
