Witney Carson Launches An Athletic-Wear Line & A New Season Of ‘Dancing With The Stars'

Updated: Jul 18, 2020

Season 27 of Dancing With the Stars is only a week away, but one pro got a head start on the season by launching her new athleisure line, CAPRI by WitneyWitney Carson is spreading her talents beyond the ballroom by using her creativity to design an athletic line of clothing.

Last Thursday, Witney had an official launch party at Rise Nation to show off her designs and get everyone's heart racing with a VersaClimber class. After a little sweat and snacks, Dance Dish talked to Witney about her new venture and what inspired her to create the line.

"It's been something I've been working on for two years now, so it's been a long time in the making," she said. "Movement and an active lifestyle are such a huge part of my life and I'm very passionate about that. It stemmed from that."

Witney knew from her dance experience that she knew what many women were seeking in an active-wear line. Her job requires her to work out and she needed clothing that fits those requirements.

"I wear workout athletic clothes all of the time. So I wanted to do something for women that was super comfortable, in whatever they're doing, and feel confident in whatever they are wearing while working out," she explained.

Witney put her own special touch on all of the designs and she does have a favorite outfit from CAPRI by Witney.

"I think the dusty blue was super important to me because it matches my eyes, but I love having bright colors. I wanted some color in the line along with some classic black — stuff that is different, but looks good on every woman's body," Witney shared. "Making pieces that were moveable, breathable and I think what makes it the Witney touch is my middle name — Capri. It's pretty straightforward."

Witney is also ready for Season 27 with partner and Disney’s Zombies star, Milo Manheim. She gave us some insight into her celebrity this season.

"I am really excited about Milo. He has such a great personality and I was a little worried that I had a 17-year-old because I didn't know who he was at first. I thought it was going to be hard because he wasn't going to be mature and that our older audience wouldn't take to him as much, but I can honestly say that he has such a great personality," she enthused. "People are going to fall in love with him, he's adorable and he's got some rhythm. He can dance, for sure. I feel really inspired, we've had such a good time."

Witney really had high praise for her young partner because he's taking the competition seriously in rehearsal.

"He's very humble. He's unlike any 17-year-old I've ever met and he's very mature for his age. He's got his head on straight and he's very grounded," she proudly shared. "Milo is so excited to be a part of the show. Every day he says, 'I can't believe I'm doing this! I can't believe I'm moving like this.' It's really cute."

She's also aiming for a long season with Milo. Witney isn't thinking short term with her partner at all.

"I will say this — Milo has a lot of potential. I think I can take him pretty far," Witney summed up. "Obviously, it's up to the voters, but I think as far as our dances go, I am going to do the best that I possibly can and make him look his best. I feel like we have a good shot!"
